BOD  APPROVES WORKPLAN OF THE FOUNDATION  
FOR Rs 90.6million


In the meeting of BOD interm held on 3-4-2009 under the chairmanship of governor N.W.F.P. ,the proposed workplan of the Foundation  for Rs 90.6million for  the period April 2009-June 2010 was approved.


SCOPE OF THE WORKPLAN:

The Work Plan envisages various initiatives for upgrading quality of education and affordability in FATA hand in glove with various institutions.

The BOD approved Rs 2.0 M in addition for upgrading 9 institutions administered by Frontier Corps in FATA. 


FOLLOWUP ACTION ON INITIATIVES APPROVED IN WORKPLAN:


RS.5.8(M) RELEASED TO POLITICAL AGENT SOUTH WAZIRISTAN AGENCY FOR UPGRADATION OF VARIOUS FACILITIES IN SCHOOLS ADMINISTRERED BY THE POLITICAL ADMINISTRATION.

          Rs. 5.8 (M) have been released to the PA (SWA) for upgradation of facilities in the schools administered by Political Administration in SWA.
          
For upgrading schools administered by Political Agents in other Agencies, additional amount of Rs. 5.5 (M) would be released in January, 2010.

SCHEDULE OF TRAINING PROGRAMS   
      
        Foundation has arranged the following courses for the office establishment and teaching staff of Directorate of Education FATA.
 

1.  ORIENTATION COURSES  FOR LECTURERS OF FATA COLLEGES.

One week Professional orientation course was conducted for two batches of FATA lecturers including male and female from 06-07- 2009 to 11-07-2009 and 13-07-2009 to 18-07-2009.

            Another course for female lecturers will be  arranged jointly with Frontier Education Foundation in November 2009.


2.  MANAGEMENT COURSES  FOR OFFICERS OF DIRECTORATE OF EDUCATION FATA.
      
Three courses of one week each have been arranged for officials of Directorate of Education FATA in PIMS Lahore in October and November 2009.

 

3.   FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT AND GENERAL ADMINISTRATION COURSE  FOR PRINCIPALS OF FATA COLLEGES.

A special course in Financial Management and General Administration has been arranged for Principals of FATA colleges from 12-10-2009 to
17-10-2009.

 

4.   COMPUTER LITERACY COURSE ARRANGED FOR OFFICIALS OF FATA SECRETARIAT.

Computer literacy course has been arranged for officials of Directorate of Education FATA in Pakistan Forest Institute Peshawar from 26-10-2009 to
31-10-2009.

  

5. FOUNDATION HIRES 26 LECTURERS FOR BEEFING UP STRENGTH IN FATA COLLEGES.

26 lecturers have been hired on contract basis for fulfilling the deficiencies of teaching staff in FATA colleges. Proposal is under way to hire more lecturers thus providing job opportunities for the educated youth of FATA.

CENTERS OF EXCELLENCE

             Foundation is steering the project of providing free education to poor and deserving students of FATA in some of the best institutions of NWFP and Punjab. The students are enrolled in class 7th after selection in entry test conducted through ETEA. Three batches were rolled during session 2007-08, 2008-09 and 2009-10. Presently 246 students are availing the facilitiy of free education.

UPGRADATION OF FACILITIES IN 9 SCHOOLS OF FRONTIER CORPS OPERATING IN FATA.

               Foundation has released Rs.10.0 (M) to Frontier Corps for upgradation and improving facilities in 9 schools under its administrative control in FATA.

SCHOLARSHIPPROGRAMS. 
              Rs. 1.0 (M) would be released additionally in January 2010 for the purpose.
   

          SCHOLARSHIPS PROGRAMS OF RS 4.0 MILLION  FOR POOR AND DESERVING STUDENTS OF FATA STUDYING  IN 18 UNIVERSITIES/INSTITUTIONS OF N.W.F.P AND 34  (23 BOYS AND 11 GIRLS) COLLEGES IN FATA.


FATA Education Foundation has initiated  a scholarship scheme for financial assistance to poor and deserving students of FATA  studying in the below indicated 18 Universities and Professional institutions in N.W.F.P.


 
A)  100 Scholarship of Rs.12000/- per anum per student to be offered to poor and deserving students of FATA studying in 10 professional Universities.

      D) 100 Scholarships of RS. 5000/- per student per annum to be awarded to poor and deserving students in under mentioned 34 Colleges administered by Directorate of Education Fata.

      Scholarships to be awarded as per following defined criteria and procedure.

      CRITERION FOR AWARD OF SCHOLARSHIPS/STIPENDS TO POOR AND DESERVING STUDENTS OF FATA OFFERED BY FATA EDUCATION FOUNDATION

       Following guidelines and criteria to be followed for applying for scholarships and selection of deserving candidates

      –       Only students domiciled in FATA will be eligible for award of scholarship. For each institution,  two merit lists of applicants will be prepared, one each of students who have obtained their last Degree/Certificate from an Institution located within territorial jurisdiction of FATA and those who did so from institutions located outside FATA. Preference will be given to those who fall in the first list.

      –       In case of a tie, preference will be given to the elder.

      –       Only those students will be eligible whose  parents’ monthly income from all sources is Rs.15000/- or less per month. Applications received will be forwarded by the institution to the Political Agent concerned for verification of Domicile and parents income.

      –       A student in receipt of any other scholarship will not be eligible for the offered scholarship unless he/she forgoes the other one.

      –       Promotion to the next level will be mandatory for continuation of the scholarship for that period.

      –        Students admitted on self-finance basis will not be eligible for the scholarship.

      –        Educational Institutions will advertise internally, the scholarships where after, students will submit application forms to the institution concerned which will place them before its scholarship committee that will include a representative each of FATA Education Foundation and FATA Secretariat. The committee will process the applications on the basis of this criterion and finalize the awards under intimation to the Foundation.

      –       The foundation will release the required funds to the institutions to be disbursed by them to the awardees.

                      FATA Education Foundation has released scholarships to eligible candidates who have submitted applications through their respective institutions and completed the required formalities. The remaining aspiring candidates are advised to route their applications through the concerned institutions assuring that the information and criteria requirements are fulfilled.
